The Property Services Regulatory Authority has announced the publication of its Annual Report for 2023. The report presents an overview of the activities and outputs of the Authority during 2023.

Commenting on the publication of the Annual Report, Mr. Michael Quinlan, Chairperson of the Board of the Authority, stated:

Throughout 2023 the Authority continued to deliver on its statutory remit in regulating Property Services Providers. This was possible, in no small part, thanks to the on-going commitment of the staff of the PSRA in ensuring the timely completion of pivotal projects and consistently delivering high-quality outputs for the Authority.

A central element of the Authority’s regulatory powers is the investigation of Property Services Providers (auctioneers, estate agents, letting agents and property management agents) and during 2023 the Property Services Regulatory Authority continued to actively pursue investigations of improper conduct. In this regard the Authority concluded over 180 complaint investigations and almost 300 compliance audits.

Further highlights and statistics of note in the 2023 Annual Report include:

  • More than 1.5 million visitors to the Residential Property Price Register.
  • 5,929 licence applications (new and renewal) processed.
  • 293 compliance audit investigations of Property Services Providers completed.
  • 182 complaint investigations against Property Service Providers concluded.
  • 270 Anti-Money Laundering audits completed by the Authority.
  • 10,158 Commercial Lease Returns published.

Reflecting on the activity of the Authority during 2023, Ms. Maeve Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority noted:

The year 2023 marked the publication of the Authority’s s fourth Strategic Plan covering the period from 1st September 2023 to 31st August 2026, which will further consolidate and build upon the achievements of the Authority’s previous Strategic Plans.

The Authority continues to utilise its statutory powers, as required, to ensure consumer protection and the ongoing professionalism of the property services sector.
