The Property Services Regulatory Authority has announced the publication of its Annual Report for 2022. The report presents an overview of the activities and outputs of the Authority during 2022.
Commenting on the publication of the Annual Report, Mr. Michael Quinlan, Chairperson of the Board of the Authority, stated:
“The Authority continued to be committed to its mission of licensing and regulating Property Services Providers, as well as advancing its strategic goals during 2022, many of which have already been delivered. This is due in no small part to the efforts and energy of the staff and Board of the Authority in driving increased standards and delivering on the ambitious goals of the strategic plan which spans the period September 2020 – August 2023.”
A central element of the Authority’s regulatory powers is the investigation of Property Services Providers (auctioneers, estate agents, letting agents and property management agents) and during 2022 the Property Services Regulatory Authority continued to actively pursue investigations of improper conduct.
Further highlights and statistics of note in the 2022 Annual Report include:
- Launch of the PSRA Code of Practice – ‘Property Services Providers – Delivering a Professional Service’ by Minister McEntee.
- The launch of a new licence application portal for licensees.
- Launch of a New website (psradev.wpengine.com).
- More than 1.55 million visitors to the Residential Property Price Register.
- 5,594 licence applications (new and renewal) processed.
- 300 compliance audit investigations of Property Services Providers concluded. Breaches were identified in 56 cases (18.6%) and minor sanctions imposed in these cases.
- 210 complaint investigations against Property Service Providers concluded.
- 294 Anti-Money Laundering audits completed by the Authority.
- 7,396 Commercial Lease Returns published.
Reflecting on the activity of the Authority during 2022, Ms. Maeve Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority noted:
“The year 2022 marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the PSRA which saw the introduction of a licensing and regulation system for Property Services Providers in the Republic of Ireland. The lifting of the remaining Covid-19 restrictions in 2022 allowed the sector to re-open fully and return to normal day to day engagement and activities. The Authority continues to look to the future and evolve and adapt to an ever changing sector.”
